Yesterday we flew into Manchester for The Visual’s live radio session with DJ Vic Galloway (sitting in for Marc Riley) on BBC Radio 6 Music!

The band chatted about how they started making music together, the new album ‘Moments of Being’, the Dutch music scene, our collaboration with them and lots more. They performed ‘Figure’, ‘Under My Skin’, ‘Open Your Eyes’ and ‘Hold Your Breath’ live. You can listen back, starting at 19.30, here!

Many thanks to Vic for having us.

The Visual Release Music Video
For ‘Open Your Eyes’

We have something special for you today… a new music video by The Visual for their track ‘Open Your Eyes’, shot by filmmaker Mateo Vega in Antwerp. Head over to The Daily Indie, who premiered it (click here) for a first glance, and a read about what’s been going on in songwriter Anna’s mind during the coming into being of their album.

Debut album ‘Moments of Being’ will be out on streaming on March 29th, it’ll also be available on beautiful 12” vinyl and CD. We’ll celebrate during the release show at Bitterzoet (presented by Paradiso). Tickets can be found here. Facebook event here.

Cheers to VEVO for the support!

Thank you to everyone involved in creating this record ?

The Hague based garage rockers will release their debut album ‘Post’ online on Friday March 15th, with a release show on Saturday March 16th at Paard (support: Torii) and a official afterparty at De Zwarte Ruiter Den Haag (DJs: Cosmic Silk)!

‘Refining their post-psychedelic roots for their upcoming debut album, The Hazzah’s songs have become louder, deeper and shorter. The scuzzy sounds and words draw influences from bands like Black Lips, The Rolling Stones, Ty Segall and Tomorrows Tulips’.

The Birth of Mink Music Publishing

Very happy to announce we have signed a deal with the lovely people at Cloud 9 Music, marking the birth of our new venture ‘Mink Music Publishing’. We have a lot of respect for Cloud 9 as a company – and all they’ve achieved in dance music, and look forward to being their gatekeeper for alternative indie music, and exploring the crossover potential in our respective specialisations and network. The news was featured on Entertainment Business. Thank you Pieter van Bodegraven and the team for the trust and enthusiasm. Big things coming!

We would like to invite you to the celebration of the release of ‘Post’, debut album by The Hazzah. These boys from The Hague have played in every corner of the city and added close to 100 shows throughout the rest of The Netherlands and France in the past 2 years. During the release show at Paard the band will perform their new material and the album will be available for the first time on 12” vinyl.

The Hazzah’s music is a reflection of the warm comfort of existential freedom experienced through a smoke break during a long road trip. Refining their post-psychedelic roots for their upcoming debut album, The Hazzah’s songs have become louder, deeper and shorter.

‘Post’ was recorded over the summer of 2018 together with producer/engineer Michiel Mutsaerts. The album came into being in recording spaces varying from high-end studios like Wisseloord in Hilversum, to a DIY temporary self-built studio in the headquarters of a scouting group in the North of Holland. The Hazzah recorded their new song without any restraints, resulting in an album that beautifully combines the members’ diverse music tastes.

Backed by acclaimed Dutch live agency Friendly Fire, The Hazzah have toured extensively throughout the Netherlands, performing at festivals like Le Mini Who, Dutch Design Week, Life I Live, Crossing Border and Paaspop, and supporting acts like Mattiel (CA), Pale Waves (UK), Alex Lahey (AU), St. Tropez (NL), CFM (VS), Hallo Venray (NL), Equal Idiots (BE), The Glücks (BE), Phobophobes (UK). Their music has been featured on 3FM, in Spotify playlists like ‘New Alternative’, and on music/film blogs like Noisey, The Daily Indie and Booooooom TV.

The Visual on
BBC Radio 6 Music

Big thanks to Lauren Laverne for playing The Visual’s single ‘Figure’ on her ‘Recommends’ show on BBC Radio 6 Music!

‘It’s a very stylish one this, it’s a Dutch band formed by musicians Anna, Timon and Tim – Anna an Timon met whilst studying at Amsterdam’s Conservatory, they have a whole aesthetic going one that I’m very much enjoying, and a debut album called ‘Moments of Being’, which is due out at the end of March, on Mink Records. This track is called ‘Figure’, and they are called The Visual.’

Listen in just before 56 minutes: click here.

‘Figure’ was premiered alongside a video clip on U.K. blog Gigwise back in November, who said:

“Anna van Rij’s voice, cool and evanescent as the morning dew, veers between melancholy lethargy and emotionally wrought upper-register bends. Partner in crime Timon Persoon does his ‘voodoo soundman’ bit on keys, crafting an proper three-dimensional sound landscape at the tender locus of soundtrack and songwriting.”

The Visual Blow Crowd
Away at ESNS Show

Last week saw the annual European music conference and showcase festival Eurosonic/Noorderslag, which was great as always. The Visual played Noorderslag on the Saturday, blowing away everyone present in the Patio. 3VOOR12 placed them on no.11 in their ‘best 25 shows of ESNS’ list. Check out these great reviews:

3VOOR12:
“Ze laat zich nergens echt in de ziel kijken, zingt abstracte teksten over vallende bladeren en vreemde schaduwen en gaat geen moment met gestrekt been op emotie in. En juist dan, als ze bijna a cappella afsluit, biggelen de tranen: ‘Goodbye, pretty one’.” Full review.

OOR:
“We moeten blijven bewegen als we niet bevroren door de schoonheid van The Visual willen blijven staan, want bloedmooi is het.” Full review.
