Sun Session at Beachclub Indigo

After a great first ‘Jazz only’ edition of the Mink Sessions last month, we are excited to invite you to a summer night session with a varied musical programme, held at our favourite spot on the beach, Beachclub Indigo. Come catch the last of the sun’s rays and let the sound frequencies take you into the night to the backing track of the North Sea waves.

21:30 – 23:00

Jazz jam led by Felician Erlenbrug on alto saxophone, featuring Jimmi Heuting on drums (Jo Goes Hunting), Marijn van de Ven on bass and Biba on vocals.

23:15 – 00:00

Odile

Dreamy eastern spheres, psychotic nightmares and hallucinogenic plant extracts are but some samples from the repertoire of Amsterdam based ‘Acid Freak Folk’ formation ‘Odile’. Led by vocalist Josephine van Schaik (the Mysterons), Odile blends influences from Indian vocalists, Nick Drake, Kate Bush and White Noise to melancholic, sometimes ominous songs.

00:00 – 02:00

DJ’s Gianni Tjon Tam Pau & Andre Agressi (Andrew van Velthoven, Pip Den Haag) will be playing some of the best Funk and Soul to make sure you move your feet.

Mink Jazz Session with Benjamin Herman & Reinier Baas

Last Saturday the first edition of the Mink Jazz Sessions took place in The Hague. We are still recovering from what a great night it was! Thanks to everyone who came out, the amazing musicians; Reinier Baas, Benjamin Herman, Omiros, Ignacio, Emilio – and the others who partook in the open jam. The next edition will be announced soon! Here are some pictures of the night by Lucca Roelvink.

Mink Jazz Sessions First Edition

We are very pleased to announce the first of a series of live jazz events hosted by Mink Records, inviting well established jazz musicians to come and play with promising young musicians from the Koninklijk Conservatorium – Royal Conservatoire. The line up for this edition include saxophonist Benjamin Herman and guitarist Reinier Baas, drummer Omiros Miltiadous and bassist Giovanni Bermúdez. There will be an open jam afterwards. Free entrance.

Benjamin Herman is one of the most original and productive jazz musicians in the Netherlands, exploring influences beyond the confines of the jazz world. After signing to DOX Records in 2005 Benjamin Herman produced a series of cd’s and vinyl’s. Furthermore, he won his third Edison award for the album ‘Campert’ (featuring Dutch poet Remco Campert), he recorded and toured with Paul Weller, programmed several festivals, toured in Brazil, Argentina, Kenya, Russia, Britain, Canada, England, Ireland and Japan and worked on numerous projects in the Netherlands. In 2006 he received the prestigious VPRO/Boy Edgar Award and was voted ‘Best Dressed Dutchman of 2008′ by Esquire magazine.

Guitarist and composer Reinier Baas is one of the leading young figures in the Dutch jazz scene today. An active bandleader, he has been in charge of ‘The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble’ since 2010. He is praised for his boldness, musicality and uniqueness. With his second album ‘Improvised Mostly Instrumental Indie Music’ (2012) he won the Edison award Jazz/World in category National Jazz in 2013.
