PHOBOPHOBES (U.K.)

Nothing is stable, everything is usually on the brink of collapse, yet Phobophobes have dragged their weird and wonderful dark psychedelic rock’n’roll into the light of “Miniature World”, their recently released debut album. Their influences are widespread – and atypical – with the music closer to the spirit of apocalyptic garage rock than it is to consumer pop. Think Wall of Voodoo, Joe Meek and Leonard Cohen via Monty Python and The Magic Roundabout. Phobophobes are now as settled as a band as they have ever been and “Miniature World” serves notice that a new era has begun. Recently they have started to gain more and more attention. Lauren Laverne has regularly played the band’s tracks on BBC 6 Music, while the album was mixed by Youth, of Killing Joke, who produced “Urban Hymns” by The Verve.

THE MIGHTY BREAKS

Known for their high energy live shows, The Mighty Breaks’ weapons of choice are fuzzy guitars, keyboard riffs and the perhaps unusual but well thought out addition of saxophone, a combination so constructed that it would make any set of ears twitch. Their Garage Pop/90’s alternative sound is inspired by artists like Guided By Voices, Black Lips and The Dandy Warhols. TMB released their debut EP on Mink Records last year, toured the Netherlands and Italy, and are currently working on their debut album.

THE HAZZAH

Explosive fuzz sounds, a groovy transistor organ and thick waves of ‘verb will keep you floating as the boys of The Hazzah bring you their surfy garagerock. Their combination of sultry psych jams, garage and a load of live energy make every show an experience. Their sound has been described as The Black Lips and Allah Las having a one night stand. The Hazzah released their debut EP ‘XEX’ on Mink Records last year. Noisey/Vice premiered their video for ‘Not Getting Older’, and the band played Dutch travelling music festival Popronde. The band is currently recording new material.

TEDDY’S HIT

The new Amsterdam-based band everyone is talking about. After releasing a teaser of their debut track ‘Tori’s Love’ on Pornhub, accompanied by a great video by Danny Griffioen, they grabbed the attention of the Dutch indie media. Their slackerrock sounds like a tougher mix of Ultimate Painting, Mac DeMarco and White Denim.

Pitou EP Release Show Announced

Pitou’s second EP ‘I Fall Asleep So Fast’ is on its way. We are beyond excited to finally share Pitou’s new material with you, with a celebration in during which Pitou will be joined by her full backing band.

The release show will take place on May 13th, at Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. We highly advise getting tickets in the presale, as they are selling fast. Tickets can be bought here.

The Visual To Release New Music on Mink

We are delighted to finally announce our new collaboration with The Visual!

The Visual is an Amsterdam-based outfit. Utilizing lush atmospherics, intricate melodic currents and dissonance, Van Rij’s voice stands front and center as a nurturing, seductive, forlorn and longing presence, fluidly veering between these moods on the slightest whim. The Visual explores themes of identity, gender binaries and relationships from an inbred vantage point, leveling preconceived human notions to an overarching and elemental musical force.

We will be releasing their upcoming EP ‘Translation’, due on the 15th of December, at a release show at the Melkweg Amsterdam. Check out the Facebook event here.
